ABOUT OUR EQUIPMENT
The highest level of quality and accuracy is essential which is why we use high-performance equipment in our testing. We wanted to go a little more in depth about some of the pieces of equipment we use. Two of our main pieces of equipment are the HPLC and GC. Learn more about these below!
HPLC
High performance liquid chromatography, or HPLC, is a piece of specialty equipment. HPLC pumps a sample mixture at high pressure through a column with chromatographic packing material. The sample is carried by a gas stream of helium or nitrogen. This equipment and process is able to separate and identify different compounds that are present in any sample that can be dissolved in a liquid. HPLC can identify compounds in trace concentration as low as parts per trillion.
HPLC is the preferred method for determining the potency of hemp plants. It can measure the potency of cannabinoids, such as CBD and THC, in a single analysis. At Agrozen Labs, we use HPLC to test the potency of the samples sent into our laboratory.
GC
Gas chromatography, or GC, is another piece of specialty equipment that separates volatile gaseous compounds carried by an inert gas across a solid stationary phase. This system is designed for simple measurements of cannabinoids. Different and additional columns can be used to analyze terpenes and residual solvents.
Agrozen Labs uses the GC system to analyze and test hemp samples for a variety of factors.
